Keyboard-driven calendar

A calendar that's always one hotkey away.
⌥ right option + ＼ (backslash) will show and hide the app instantly, and the hotkey can be configured to any other combination.

Navigate by typing

  • 1 … 9 numbers will set the day
  • A … Z letters will set the month
  • typing ; (semicolon) then 1 … 9 will set the year

Examples

  • type s 3 0 to go to September 30th
  • type a p 1 to go to April 1st

Optimal 3-months view

By default, Grila shows the current month, along with the next and previous 2-3 weeks.
This allows for less moving between months when planning events or checking when's the next event.
The UI can be morphed into a full-year view or a single-month view by pressing the = (equals) key.

Tiny things that matter

Pin window

Pressing . (dot) will pin the window in an always-on-top semi-transparent state for easy referencing while doing other tasks.

Hourly Chime

You can choose to hear a quiet chime sound on every hour.
The chime can be muted when a ☾ Focus mode is active and the hour interval can also be configured manually.

Compact date menubar icon

The menubar icon can be configured to show today's day and weekday or month name. A simple graphical no-text icon is also available.

Events and reminders

Press ⏎ enter to show a color-coded list of events and reminders starting from the selected date.
Separate calendars and reminder lists can be disabled by pressing the , (comma) key to open the settings window.

Read-only, a feature not a bug

Grila can't and won't modify, add or delete events in your calendars and reminder lists.
You can go fast and reckless with your typing, there's nothing to break.

Personal, not busy

On birthday events, the app will show the contact photo and will hide possible duplicated events for a cleaner look.
Recurring events will show how often they happen in an easily readable form (e.g. every 1 month) and colored dots under each day can help you see future holidays and free time at a glance.
